Your questions about bath repair in Portishead
Can you quote from photos?
Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.
What about rust by the waste?
Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.
Do you charge for travel?
We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Of course, and it generally saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we’ll quote them together.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.
How quickly can you book me in?
We will give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.
Are you a vetted contractor?
Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
Do you come to Portishead?
Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Portishead and the rest of North Somerset. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
What affects the price in Portishead
Prices start from £95. You won’t pay by the hour. The price is based on:
- What kind of damage it is
- The size and number of damaged areas
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- The colour and finish to match
No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
Send pictures for a quote
You can generally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:
- Details of any past repairs
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- Where you are, by postcode
For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
The process
A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Plan for a morning or an afternoon. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
How to prepare
- Make sure the room can be ventilated
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Advice
Why repair rather than replace?
If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. If the entire surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Can I fix it myself?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
Signs you need bath repair in Portishead
Damage during fitting is very common. Tradespeople drop tools and tiles into the bath, and the damage is not always spotted until later. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.
You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:
- Chips along the edge of the bath
- Rusty patches near the plughole
- Deep scratches in acrylic
- A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
Before you book anyone

- What happens if they find more damage
- How soon you can use it again
- Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
When we’d advise against a repair
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
- Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
- A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.
Materials we repair
- Acrylic
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Cast iron enamel
- Pressed steel enamel
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Pressed steel
Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.
Acrylic
An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
