Bath repair near Maer

Repair or replace: which is better?

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. Usually it does not: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why book with us

  • No extra charge for your area
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

Bath repair in Maer without replacing anything

Chips, cracks, rust spots and small holes can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. There’s no plumbing to disconnect, the tiles are not touched, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. If you’re dealing with snagging damage from a refit and chips along the edge of the bath, we can usually put it right.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Work for landlords and builders

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Maer: your questions answered

Are there extra charges for Maer?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

What happens after I send photos?

We come back with a fixed quote, generally with dates to choose from. You’re under no obligation.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Normally the following day. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

Frequently, if there’s access underneath. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. There is no charge for travel to Maer. The price comes down to:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Access to the area

Compared with replacing, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Quotes from your photos

Before you send photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Natural light rather than flash

For a price in Maer, the easiest route is pictures: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

How it works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, then carry out the work, which generally takes a few hours, depending on the damage. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. Once it has cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

Preparing for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

How to get a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

10 questions to ask before you book

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

When a repair is not the answer

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
