Bath repair for Meliden homes

Bath repair in Meliden, done in place

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Common call-outs are for a chip where the taps sit and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted, across cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are not left on your own once we’ve gone.

What we can’t put right

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

What happens on the day

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. It usually takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Looking after it afterwards

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath.

Do not leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

Meliden questions

Can you redo an old repair?

Yes. We take out the old repair and do it properly. Mention it when you send photos.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Will the price change on the day?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. If there is more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Is a bath repair permanent?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.

How do I book?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, the panel may not fit the new one, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Our bath repair starts from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Meliden. The price depends on:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • The type of damage
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Access to the area

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Send photos for a quote

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To make it quick:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Natural light rather than flash

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can price the job without visiting.

For landlords and businesses

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Denbighshire and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.
