Bath repair in Moor Row without replacing anything

A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and the bath is back in use the following day. There is no need to book a plumber or tiler, because the bath doesn’t move. We work on cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel, and the jobs we see most are rust spots around the plughole and a hole punched through by something heavy.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Before and after: a chipped, rust-stained bath around the plughole

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a fitted bath generally means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and getting rid of the old bath. A repair fixes just the damaged area in a single visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

When we would advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

Questions from Moor Row

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes, coloured baths are no problem. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Do you cover the whole of Cumbria?

Everywhere in the UK, Moor Row included. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Is a bath repair permanent?

Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

How invisible is a bath repair?

We aim for a repair you can’t easily find. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • How much damage there is
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Access to the area
  • What the surface is made of

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before you book, with nothing added on the day.

How to get a fixed quote

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Something in shot to show the size

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos using our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.

How it works

We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. Allow a few hours, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the day after.

How to prepare

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
