Bath repair in New Lane without replacing anything

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. Whether it’s hairline or through cracks in acrylic and a hole punched through by something heavy, we can normally put it right, on roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel alike.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.

Landlords, agents and businesses in New Lane

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Common questions in New Lane

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

Do you cover New Lane?

Yes, we do. Technicians travel to New Lane from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Will I be able to see the repair?

The goal is a repair that blends in. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath, and we’ll tell you what to expect.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Is a bath repair durable?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Signs you need bath repair in New Lane

Most bath damage comes from something dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, a chip that reaches the metal will start to rust.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted

Our hiring checklist

Repair or replace in New Lane?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why choose Surface Doctor in New Lane

What we do, step by step

We begin by going over the job with you. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. Allow a few hours, depending on the damage, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Getting a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

What we cannot put right

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel

Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

How to care for the repair

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby

Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Every use opens the crack a little more, and it can start to leak underneath.
