Bath repair at your home in Pen-marc

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath. Most baths can be used again the following day. We work on pressed steel enamel, cast iron enamel and roll-top & freestanding, and common reasons people contact us are cracks in an acrylic bath and damage beneath the taps.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

How the visit works

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, and get on with the job, which typically takes a few hours, depending on the damage. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. Once it has cured, generally by the following day, the bath is ready to use.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Advice

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The type of damage
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Compared with replacing, repairing usually costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Quotes from your photos

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

How to look after the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Store metal items away from the bath

A repaired bath needs no special treatment, beyond gentle cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and give it a rinse after each bath.

Do not leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

Repair or replace in Pen-marc?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: tiles along the rim normally crack when it comes out, a new panel is often needed, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why book with us

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Work done at your home or business
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Nothing taken out or refitted

Read our prices page and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Pen-marc: your questions answered

How do I get a price for bath repair in Pen-marc?

Repairs from £95. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You will get a fixed figure before you book.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

In most cases. Send us a picture of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Is there any odour?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.

How quickly can you book me in?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

What do you need from me?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you will get one combined price.
