Bath repair near St Nicholas

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We price every job individually, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • The material and finish
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for St Nicholas. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

How to get a fixed quote

Before you send photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed price back. There is no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.

How we handle bath repair in St Nicholas

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. Nothing is unplumbed, the tiles are not touched, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. Whether it’s chips along the edge of the bath and scratches you can feel with a fingernail, we can normally put it right, on acrylic, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths alike.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll come back.

What we cannot put right

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.

Questions from St Nicholas

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Typically, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Will I be able to see the repair?

We aim for a repair you can’t easily find. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.

Is a bath repair durable?

Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, we frequently do. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.

Which areas do you work in?

The entire UK, including all of Cardiff. Send your postcode with your photos and we’ll offer you dates.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including older coloured suites.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

Typically, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a photo.

The process

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a morning or an afternoon, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

How to get a price

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

How to care for the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

Common problems we fix in St Nicholas

Rust tends to begin where water collects, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.

Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:

  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • Chips under the taps
  • Chips caused by builders
  • Chips on the rim or sides
