What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material and finish
  • Access to the area
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Pen-y-coed. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Send pictures for a quote

You can take the photos on your phone. Just make sure we can see:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • What it’s made of, if you know

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Can I fix it myself?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a fitted bath normally involves a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and getting rid of the old bath. Repairing it fixes just the damaged area in one visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why Pen-y-coed clients choose us

  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • No need to remove anything
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Typically one visit, start to finish

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.

Your questions about bath repair in Pen-y-coed

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so we need access under the bath.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

When can I have a bath again?

Normally by the following day, though it depends on what we’ve done.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Do you cover Pen-y-coed?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Pen-y-coed and the rest of Conwy. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

In most cases. Send us a picture of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

Do you need bath repair in Pen-y-coed?

Rust normally starts where water sits, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Water on bare metal causes rust that creeps under the surrounding enamel.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • Damage beneath the taps

Before booking anyone

  • Who turns up on the day
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges

How it works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for a few hours, depending on the damage. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, typically the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Getting a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

When we’d advise against a repair

Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:

  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

What we work on

  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel

How to care for the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Rinse it down after each bath

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water cannot get in. Remove it before the repair.
