Bath repair in Podsmead without replacing anything
A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and you can usually bathe again the next day. There’s no need to book a plumber or tiler, because the bath doesn’t move. We regularly repair cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding, and the jobs we see most are holes from dropped items and rust spots around the plughole.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit.

What your bath is made of matters
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.
Cast iron
Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.
For landlords and businesses
Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.
How to look after the repair
Aftercare is simple:
- Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
- Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
- Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
- Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before using the bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.
Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Take it off before we arrive.
DIY kit or professional repair?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We take into account:
- Access to the area
- Whether we combine several jobs
- The type of damage
- How hard the colour is to match
Set against the cost of replacement, repairing normally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
How to get a fixed price
You can take the pictures on your phone. Just ensure we can see:
- The material, if you know it
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- A picture taken from further back
We price from pictures so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

Repairing versus replacing in Podsmead
If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you. Prices start from £95. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

What happens on the day
On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we will take it from there. Most visits take a few hours, depending on the damage, including clearing up.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
Before we arrive
- Open a window if you can
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Tell us about parking, stairs or access
