Bath repair for Ringland homes

Bath repair at your home in Ringland

You don’t need a new bath because of a chip. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day so the repair is hard to spot. We regularly repair acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths, and common reasons people contact us are an old repair that has yellowed or come loose and chips on the rim or sides.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Ringland as everywhere else we work.

Before and after: a chipped, rust-stained bath around the plughole

Why repair rather than replace?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it takes one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Prices start from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Ringland

What happens on the day

There is not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to a few hours, including clearing up.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. Once it has cured, usually by the next day, the bath is ready to use.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

Common problems we fix in Ringland

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Damage beneath the taps
  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath

Choosing a repair company

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The type of damage
  • The material

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Getting a price from pictures

You can take the pictures on your phone. Just make sure we can see:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A photo taken from further back
  • What it’s made of, if you know

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them over. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

A small chip is a quick job. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so early repair saves time and money.

When we’d advise against a repair

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, including:

  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we work on in Ringland

  • Cast iron enamel

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Ringland

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access.

Your questions about bath repair in Ringland

Is a bath repair permanent?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.

What happens after I send pictures?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

In most cases. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so we need access under the bath.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes. We take out the old repair and do it properly. Mention it when you send photos.

What do you need from me?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787.

Which areas do you work in?

The entire UK, including all of Newport. Just include your postcode and we will confirm dates.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.
