How bath repair works in NP18
Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in one visit. We regularly repair whirlpool & spa baths, acrylic and cast iron enamel, and the jobs we see most are chips on the rim or sides and scuffs and scratches in the surface.
Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Plan for a morning or an afternoon. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and how to care for it.
- We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
- We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
- The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
- We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
- Once it has cured, generally by the next day, the bath is ready to use.
What it costs in NP18
Our bath repair starts from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
Why book with us
- CHAS and Constructionline accredited
- Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
- Same prices wherever you are
- One visit for most repairs
How to get a price
There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.
Near you in Caerleon
In Caerleon, that means homes near St Cadoc's Church, Caerleon Comprehensive School and The Romans Rest pub, among other places. The closest station to Caerleon is Newport (South Wales) station, about 2.4 miles south-west. Other landmarks nearby include Friars Walk (2.3 miles south-west) and Caerleon Castle (0.6 miles south-east). Not far away are Lodge Hill and Somerton.
Signs you need bath repair
Most bath damage comes from something dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On steel and cast iron baths, a chip that reaches the metal lets water in, and rust follows.
The most common problems we are called about are:
- Rust by the waste and overflow
- Chips under the taps
- Cracks in an acrylic bath
- Scuffs and scratches in the surface
What a repair can’t fix
Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:
- A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
- Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
- A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
Repair or replace?
If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead.
What your quote should include
- Who will actually do the work
- Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
- How soon you can use it again
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
What affects the price in NP18
Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including NP18. What changes the price is:
- Access to the area
- How many areas need work
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for NP18. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Getting a price from photos
Phone pictures are fine, there’s no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- A picture taken from further back
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
For landlords and businesses
Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.
We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
NP18 questions
Do you come to NP18?
Yes. We work across the UK and travel to NP18. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
Can you redo an old repair?
Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Tell us about it when you send pictures.
Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?
In most cases. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so we need access under the bath.
How long before I can use the bath?
Normally by the following day, depending on the repair.
Is my repair covered?
Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.
Will it make a mess?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.
Can you repair a hole in a bath?
Typically. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.
