Need bath repair in Scottish Borders?

Bath repair in Scottish Borders, done in place

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. If you are dealing with scuffs and scratches in the surface and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted, we can usually put it right.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Common problems we fix in Scottish Borders

Damage during fitting is very common. Tradespeople drop tools and tiles into the bath, and the damage is not always spotted until later. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Chips caused by builders
  • Rust by the waste and overflow

What to look for in a quote

  • How changes to the job are handled

  • How soon you can use it again

10 questions to ask before you book

What we do, step by step

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. It normally takes a morning or an afternoon, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the day after.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

How to get a price

Most clients in Scottish Borders get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new bath costs more than the bath itself: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price. Our bath repair starts from £95. We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why book with us

  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.

Don’t leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

FAQs for Scottish Borders

How much does bath repair cost in Scottish Borders?

Prices start from £95. We give a fixed quote based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the whole item with your ML12 postcode.

Can you redo an old repair?

Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

In most cases. Send us a picture of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Most baths can be used the next day. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.

Do you cover the entire of South Lanarkshire?

All of South Lanarkshire, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We will not take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.
