Need bath repair in Selston?

Bath repair in Selston, done in place

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath. You can usually use the bath the following day. Our technicians work on whirlpool & spa baths, acrylic and roll-top & freestanding, and the jobs we see most are cracks in an acrylic bath and deep scratches in acrylic.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back.

Do you need bath repair in Selston?

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and building work is a common culprit. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: the bath is not properly supported, so it flexes under weight.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • Rust by the waste and overflow

What a repair can’t fix

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

Can I fix it myself?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Should you replace it?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Prices start from £95. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Selston. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

Selston: your questions answered

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

What happens next?

We come back with a fixed quote, normally with dates to choose from. There’s no obligation to book.

Is there any odour?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Is there a call-out fee?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Can you quote from photos?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. We give every job a fixed price from photos. These are the things that affect it:

  • How much damage there is
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • What the surface is made of

A repair typically costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Getting a price from photos

Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • The material, if you know it

Upload a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your NG16 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

The process

There is not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will take it from there. Most visits take a few hours, tidy-up included.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the next day.

How to prepare

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Ask for a price

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.

How to look after the repair

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

There’s nothing special to do after a repair, beyond gentle cleaning. Skip bleach and gritty creams.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.
