Need bath repair in Shenleybury?

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: tiles along the rim typically crack when it comes out, a new panel is frequently needed, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. A repair skips all of it. Our bath repair starts from £95. Compared with replacing, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Bath repair in Shenleybury, done in place

Bath repair is our most common job. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. Typical jobs include rust spots around the plughole and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted, on acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Questions from Shenleybury

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

When can I have a bath again?

Usually the next day. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Often, if there’s access underneath. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

Do you work in Shenleybury?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Shenleybury for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Do you charge for travel?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes, coloured baths are no problem. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.

What happens after I send pictures?

We come back with a fixed quote, usually with dates to choose from. There’s no obligation to book.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and you’ll get one combined price.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Access to the area
  • How much damage there is
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Doing more than one item at once

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

How to get a fixed quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Details of any past repairs
  • What it’s made of, if you know

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Keeping it looking good

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Store metal items away from the bath

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

The process

On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a few hours, depending on the damage. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the next day.

How to prepare

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Getting a price

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three pictures through our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

A cracked acrylic bath typically wasn’t supported properly. Legs that are not adjusted, a missing cradle or a soft floor let the bath move until the acrylic gives way.

  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • A cracked acrylic bath
