DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Plan for a few hours, depending on the damage from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. Once it has cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

Before we arrive

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Advice

When to call us in Slack

Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips, with dropped shower heads close behind. Fittings cause damage too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • A chipped rim or side

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether the price covers travel
  • Aftercare advice
  • How long it needs to cure
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

10 questions to ask before booking

Work for landlords and builders

For anyone letting property in or around Slack, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Why repair rather than replace?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why Slack customers choose us

Honest limits

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • A steel bath rusted through

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Slack questions

Will the repair show?

On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Usually, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send pictures.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Slack.

How quickly can you book me in?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Is a bath repair durable?

Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. There is no area surcharge for Slack. The price reflects:

  • How many areas need work
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The colour and finish to match

A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Getting a price from pictures

Phone photos are fine. Make sure they show:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Natural light rather than flash

Most customers in Slack get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.
