Bath repair for Southwood homes

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • Access to the area
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Unusual colours or finishes

Compared with replacing, repairing usually costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

How to get a fixed quote

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • One picture of the entire bath
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

We price from pictures so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

How we handle bath repair in Southwood

A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and you can normally bathe again the day after. There is no need to book a plumber or tiler, because the bath doesn’t move. If you’re dealing with a hole punched through by something heavy and chips under the taps, we can normally put it right, on pressed steel enamel, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths alike.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Southwood and across Hampshire.

Before and after: a chipped, rust-stained bath around the plughole

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Looking after it afterwards

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Do not leave a fresh chip for long
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath, avoiding abrasives.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

Common questions in Southwood

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

How invisible is a bath repair?

On a glossy bath, you will struggle to find it. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. If there is more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including older coloured suites.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

What a repair can’t fix

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

What we do, step by step

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, and get on with the job, which generally takes a morning or an afternoon. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. Once it has cured, usually by the next day, the bath is ready to use.

How to prepare

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Clear the area around the damage

Advice

Do you need bath repair in Southwood?

Most bath damage comes from something dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On enamelled baths, a chip that reaches the metal will start to rust.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • Chips caused by builders
  • Holes from dropped items
  • Chips along the edge of the bath

Our hiring checklist

Should you replace it?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: tiles along the rim typically crack when it comes out, a new panel is frequently needed, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Our bath repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

What you get with us

  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
