Bath repair for Spa Common homes

What happens on the day

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. Allow a few hours, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. Once it has cured, generally by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

Before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

Advice

Bath repair at your home in Spa Common

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath. Most baths can be used again the following day. We are often asked to fix snagging damage from a refit and rust spots around the plughole, on whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Spa Common as everywhere else we work.

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine.

Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Every use opens the crack a little more, and it can start to leak underneath.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

Repair or replace in Spa Common?

People frequently assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. Normally it doesn’t: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

Why us?

What we can’t put right

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually, from your photos. What matters most is:

  • Access to the area
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Send pictures for a quote

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • The material, if you know it

To get a price, send a couple of pictures using our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Spa Common: your questions answered

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

Will there be a smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We come back with a fixed price, typically with dates to choose from. You are under no obligation.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Often, if there is access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Do you need bath repair in Spa Common?

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting

  • When it can be used again
  • Who turns up on the day
