Bath repair for Spittal homes

How we handle bath repair in Spittal

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Typical jobs include impact holes in acrylic and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting, in whirlpool & spa baths, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Honest limits

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel

What we do, step by step

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes a few hours. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the day after.

Advice

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. We price every job individually, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The colour and finish to match
  • The material and finish

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing usually costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Getting a price from photos

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • A picture taken from further back
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Keeping it looking good

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Rinse it down after each bath

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before using the bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Spittal

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: tiles along the rim generally crack when it comes out, the panel may not fit the new one, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. A repair skips all of it. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You will see the full price before you book.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Your questions about bath repair in Spittal

Will the price change on the day?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Is there any odour?

There may be a mild smell during the work, which fades afterwards.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Is a bath repair durable?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.

Will the repair show?

We aim for a repair you cannot easily find. The rest of the bath’s condition makes a difference, and we will tell you what to expect.
