Bath repair near Staining

Repair or replace: which is better?

Think about the hidden costs of a new bath: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit. Prices start from £95. Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Bath repair in Staining without replacing anything

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, is repaired in place. There is no plumbing to disconnect, your tiles stay as they are, and the repaired area is colour matched so it blends in. Typical jobs include hairline or through cracks in acrylic and rust by the waste and overflow, on pressed steel enamel, cast iron enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll come back.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

For landlords and businesses

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

What we’re called out for in Staining

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and building work is a common culprit. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: the bath isn’t properly supported, so it flexes under weight.

People usually call us after spotting one of these:

  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • Damage beneath the taps

Choosing a repair company

What we do, step by step

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes two to three hours for most chips. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

How to get a price

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

Advice

Honest limits

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Your questions about bath repair in Staining

How long before I can use the bath?

Generally the next day. We confirm the time before we leave.

Is a bath repair permanent?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.

How much does bath repair cost in Staining?

Repairs from £95. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You will get a fixed figure before you book.

What happens if you find more damage?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Which areas do you work in?

All of Blackpool, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

What information do you need?

Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The material and finish
  • What kind of damage it is

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send pictures for a quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A photo taken from further back

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them over. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
