How bath repair works in FY3
We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. Most baths can be used again the next day. Common call-outs are for a kit repair that didn’t last and snagging damage from a refit, in acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths.
You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take two to three hours for most chips, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
What it costs in FY3

Local landmarks in Layton
In Layton, that means homes near Bispham High School Arts College, Moor Park and Layton Primary School, among other places. Nearby too are St Mark's Church (under half a mile south) and St Thomas' Church (1 mile south). Layton has its own railway station: Layton station. Well-known places in the area include Blackpool Victoria Hospital (1.1 miles south-east) and Houndshill Shopping Centre (1.6 miles south-west). For a walk, there’s Marton Mere.
How the damage happens
Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, closely followed by shower heads. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.
These are the problems we are asked about most:
- Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
- Chips on the rim or sides
- An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
- A hole punched through by something heavy
Repairs by material
Pressed steel
Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.
Acrylic
Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
Work for landlords and builders
We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access.
For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip.
Repairing versus replacing
If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. Where the entire surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead.
What your quote should include
- How the room is protected while they work
- What prep work is covered
- Whether the price covers travel
- Whether a trained technician does the job
Keeping it looking good
A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Do not scrub with anything abrasive
- A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
- Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.
Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so it pays to deal with it early.
FY3: your questions answered
Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?
Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including pastel and older colours.
Can you repair several things at once?
Of course, and it normally saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and we’ll quote them together.
Can you redo an old repair?
Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Mention it when you send pictures.
Can rust on a bath be repaired?
Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.
Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?
Normally, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.
What happens next?
We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.
