About our bath repair in Tai-Bach
Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, usually in a single visit. We work on acrylic, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths, and common reasons people contact us are damage beneath the taps and hairline or through cracks in acrylic.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back.

Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:
- How many items we do on one visit
- What kind of damage it is
- How much damage there is
- How hard the colour is to match
Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
Getting a price from photos
The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- A wider photo showing the whole bath
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- The material, if you know it
We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
Repair or replace in Tai-Bach?
Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. Usually it does not: a proper repair gives it years more use, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Prices start from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Tai-Bach: your questions answered
Is repairing better than replacing?
Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.
Is the work guaranteed?
All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.
Will there be a smell?
A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.
It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?
Generally, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send photos.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.
Do you cover the whole of Neath Port Talbot?
We cover the entire UK, including Tai-Bach and the rest of Neath Port Talbot. Just include your postcode and we will offer you dates.
How quickly can you book me in?
It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.
Do you cover Tai-Bach?

When a repair is not the answer
Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair will not do:
- A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
- Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
- Metal that has corroded all the way through
Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.
Materials we repair
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Pressed steel enamel
- Cast iron enamel
- Acrylic
What your bath is made of matters
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
How to care for the repair
Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:
- Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Store metal items away from the bath
- Give the bath a quick rinse after use
Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.
A small chip is a quick job. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so early repair saves time and money.
How it works
Visits start with a quick look at the job together. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and we start. Allow a few hours, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
- We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
- We match both the colour and the shine.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.
Before we arrive
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
- Open a window if you can
Get a quote
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.
