About our bath repair in Pen-y-cae

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. If you are dealing with deep scratches in acrylic and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting, we can help, whatever the material.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we will sort it.

Repairing versus replacing in Pen-y-cae

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it’s done in one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why Pen-y-cae customers choose us

  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • One price list for the entire UK
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing

Honest limits

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Do you need bath repair in Pen-y-cae?

A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: bottles, shower heads and razors are dropped every day, and fittings press hard against the enamel. Over time, chips and rust spots are almost inevitable.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath

Comparing quotes

  • If travel is included in the price

How it works

We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. It normally takes a few hours, and we will keep you posted as we go.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Getting a price

Your questions about bath repair in Pen-y-cae

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Will the repair last?

A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

Is there any odour?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

When can I have a bath again?

Most baths can be used the following day. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Rinse it down after each bath

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
