What we do, step by step

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, then carry out the work, which generally takes a few hours. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the next day.

How to prepare

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

How we handle bath repair in The Green

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. Nothing is unplumbed, the tiles are not touched, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. Common call-outs are for a chip where the taps sit and chips caused by builders, on whirlpool & spa baths, acrylic and cast iron enamel.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Honest limits

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Chips caused by builders
  • Chips along the edge of the bath

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. We don’t charge extra for travel to The Green. The price comes down to:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Access to the area
  • How many areas need work

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from photos

Before you send photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Any details about the material
  • Natural light rather than flash

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, a new panel is often needed, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. A repair skips all of it. Prices start from £95. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

What you get with us

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • One price list for the whole UK
  • Generally one visit, start to finish
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

Read our full price list or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

Your questions about bath repair in The Green

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Do you cover the whole of Cumbria?

We cover the entire UK, including The Green and the rest of Cumbria. Send your postcode with your photos and we will offer you dates.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

Can you quote from photos?

Generally, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

How long before I can use the bath?

Most baths can be used the next day. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

What your bath is made of matters

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
