What a repair can’t fix
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
- Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
- Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.
Materials we work on in The Rookery

Bath repair in The Rookery, done in place
Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. A repair stops both. We are often asked to fix cracks in an acrylic bath and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose, on whirlpool & spa baths, pressed steel enamel and acrylic.
Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Different materials, different repairs
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.
The Rookery: your questions answered
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.
Can landlords book you?
Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.
Do you cover The Rookery?
Yes, we do. Repair technicians travel to The Rookery from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.
Do you repair coloured baths?
Yes, coloured baths are no problem. We tint the finish to your bath on site.
It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?
Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.
Can pets and children be at home?
We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.
Is there any odour?
Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It fades as everything cures.
When can I have a bath again?
Generally within a day, though it depends on what we have done.
Why repair rather than replace?
When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. Where the entire surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for The Rookery. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Why us?
- Honest advice, even when it means no job
- Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
- No need to remove anything
- Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface

Can I fix it myself?
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

How it works
We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. You can expect it to take a few hours.
- We protect the bath and the floor around it.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the next day.
Preparing for the visit
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Keep a parking space free if you can
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
How to get a price
Most customers in The Rookery get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.
Related advice
Keeping it looking good
Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
- Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
- Do not leave a fresh chip for long
Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Deal with new chips early, before rust sets in.
Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water can’t get in. Remove it before the repair.
For landlords and businesses
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.
For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.
Common problems we fix in The Rookery
The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.
Send us a picture if you notice any of these:
- An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
- Chips caused by builders
- A chipped rim or side
- A hole punched through by something heavy
