Bath repair in Tiger Bay, done in place
Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, is repaired in place. Nothing is unplumbed, your tiles stay as they are, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. Our technicians work on cast iron enamel, acrylic and pressed steel enamel, and common reasons people get in touch are holes from dropped items and a kit repair that didn’t last.
All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Cardiff.

Prices and what affects them
Repairs from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Tiger Bay. The price depends on:
- What the surface is made of
- What kind of damage it is
- The colour and finish to match
- How easy the damage is to reach
What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.
Send photos for a quote
A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:
- A picture taken from further back
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
For a price in Tiger Bay, photos are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.
Repairing versus replacing in Tiger Bay
Replacing a fitted bath normally involves a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. A repair deals only with the damage in a single visit. Prices start from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
Why book with us
- One-year guarantee on every repair
- Nothing taken out or refitted

The process
From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.
Before we arrive
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
How to get a price
The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos using our quote form or call us. We’ll say straight away whether it can be repaired.

Can I fix it myself?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
When we would advise against a repair
Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:
- Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
- A steel bath rusted through
- A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
Materials we work on in Tiger Bay
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Pressed steel enamel
- Cast iron enamel
- Acrylic
- Roll-top & freestanding
What your bath is made of matters
Cast iron
Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.
Signs you need bath repair in Tiger Bay
Acrylic baths that crack nearly always have a support problem. Legs that are not adjusted, a missing cradle or a soft floor let the base flex until it cracks.
Get in touch if you’ve noticed any of these:
- Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
- A hole punched through by something heavy
- Chips along the edge of the bath
- An old repair that has yellowed or come loose

- Whether a trained technician does the job

Tiger Bay: your questions answered
Is there a guarantee?
All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.
Do the materials smell?
There may be a mild smell during the work.
Will the repair show?
On a glossy bath, you will struggle to find it. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.
Do I have to be there?
Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.
I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?
Yes, we do this frequently. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.
Can tenants book a repair?
Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.
Can you price it without visiting?
Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.
What happens once I’ve sent pictures?
We review the pictures and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.
Aftercare tips
Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:
- Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
- Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
- Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
- Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.
If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.
