Bath repair for Toab homes

Bath repair in Toab, done in place

Whatever the damage, the aim is the same: a smooth, solid repair that blends in. Proper preparation, careful filling and shaping, then colour and gloss matching so it sits flush with the rest of the bath. We’re often asked to fix damage done while the bathroom was being fitted and a hole punched through by something heavy, on cast iron enamel, acrylic and roll-top & freestanding.

Every job is backed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Your questions about bath repair in Toab

How much does bath repair cost in Toab?

Prices start from £95. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Do you cover Toab?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Toab and the rest of the Orkney Islands. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is a bath repair permanent?

Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps.

When can I have a bath again?

Generally the day after. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

What happens after I send photos?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.

How it works

Once we are through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes two to three hours for most chips, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

How to get a price

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Advice

When we’d advise against a repair

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Landlords, agents and businesses in Toab

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

Quotes from your photos

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. There’s no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.

Signs you need bath repair in Toab

Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips, with dropped shower heads close behind. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Impact holes in acrylic

Questions to ask before booking

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Keeping it looking good

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

Repair or replace in Toab?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Our bath repair starts from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.
