DIY kit or professional repair?
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
How we handle bath repair in Tregeseal
Chips, cracks, rust spots and small holes is repaired in place. There is no plumbing to disconnect, your tiles stay as they are, and the repaired area is colour-matched so it blends in. Typical jobs include deep scratches in acrylic and snagging damage from a refit, on acrylic, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

What we cannot put right
Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:
- Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
- Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
- A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.
Surfaces we repair
- Pressed steel enamel
- Cast iron enamel
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Acrylic
- Roll-top & freestanding
Repair or replace: which is better?
If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Our bath repair starts from £95. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

How it works
We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. Allow a morning or an afternoon.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
Getting ready for the visit
- Ensure the room can be ventilated
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
Getting a price

Advice
What affects the price in Tregeseal
Repairs from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Tregeseal. The price depends on:
- What the surface is made of
- How hard the colour is to match
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- Access to the area
It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.
How to get a fixed quote
Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- A photo taken from further back
- What it’s made of, if you know
- Something in shot to show the size
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.
Aftercare tips
After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
- Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
- Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
A repaired bath needs no special treatment, just sensible cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and give it a rinse after each bath.
Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water cannot get in. Remove it before the repair.
Common questions in Tregeseal
Will there be a smell?
A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.
Can you quote from pictures?
Normally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.
What do you need from me?
Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.
Do you repair coloured baths?
Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including pastel and older colours.
Are there extra charges for Tregeseal?
No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.
Do you cover Tregeseal?
Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Tregeseal and the rest of Cornwall. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
Is repairing better than replacing?

Is there a guarantee?
Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

What your bath is made of matters
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
