How we price bath re-enamelling
Resurfacing from £350. There’s no area surcharge for Tregeseal. What changes the price is:
- The material and finish
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- Unusual colours or finishes
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.
Send pictures for a quote
When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:
- Details of any past repairs
- What it’s made of, if you know
- A photo taken from further back
- Natural light rather than flash
The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures using our quote form or ring us. We will say right away if a repair is the right fix.
Bath re-enamelling in Tregeseal, done in place
When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, resurfacing is normally the best value. There is no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. Common call-outs are for a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and an outdated colour you’d like to change, on pressed steel baths, cast iron baths and Victorian roll-tops.
We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Tregeseal: your questions answered
Are you accredited?
Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.
What happens once I’ve sent pictures?
You’ll get a fixed quote back. There’s no obligation to book.
Can tenants book a repair?
Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted.
How long does re-enamelling last?
A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.
Can you resurface a pink bath in white?
Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.
Will it make a mess?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.
Which areas do you work in?
All of Cornwall, and the rest of the UK. There is no extra charge for travel.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

Different materials, different repairs
Acrylic
We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.
What a repair cannot fix
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
- Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
Surfaces we repair
- Basins & shower trays
- Acrylic baths
- Pressed steel baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Cast iron baths
Looking after it afterwards
Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:
- A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
- Never use suction bath mats
- Repair dripping taps early
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
Dry the bath after use if possible, especially in hard water areas, and rinse away any product left on the surface.
Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
When to call us in Tregeseal
Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, lifting by the plughole or blistering. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.
Most people contact us after spotting one of these:
- An old resurfacing that’s failing
- Staining under the taps and around the waste
- An outdated colour you’d like to change
- Chips and rust in more than one place
Questions to ask before you book
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
- A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
- What aftercare is recommended
- Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
Repair or replace: which is better?
For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Why book with us

DIY repairs versus a professional job
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
How it works
Visits start with a quick look at the job together. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. You can expect it to take most of the day.
- The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
- We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
- Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.
Getting ready for the visit
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
Getting a price
For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.
