Bath repair at your home in Trehafod

Most of our bath repairs take a few hours, and you can normally bathe again the following day. There’s no need to book a plumber or tiler, because the bath doesn’t move. We regularly repair pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and cast iron enamel, and the jobs we see most are an old repair that has yellowed or come loose and deep scratches in acrylic.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Before and after: a damaged acrylic bath corner repaired in place

Should you replace it?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. A repair keeps it in place. Our bath repair starts from £95. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Why us?

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

When we’d advise against a repair

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic

What we’re called out for in Trehafod

Baths take more knocks than people expect: bottles, shower heads and razors are dropped every day, and taps and wastes are tightened against the surface. Over time, chips and rust spots are almost inevitable.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Holes from dropped items
  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • Damage beneath the taps

How to compare quotes

Landlord and trade work in Trehafod

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip.

For anyone letting property in or around Trehafod, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we’ll price them together.

What happens on the day

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job generally takes a few hours, depending on the damage. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

FAQs for Trehafod

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Usually, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including older coloured suites.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

Normally, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a photo.

How long before I can use the bath?

Typically within a day, though it depends on what we have done.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

How to care for the repair

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine, avoiding abrasives.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and water can get through to the floor below.
