Bath repair in Virginia Water

About our bath repair in Virginia Water

Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, usually in a single visit. We’re frequently asked to fix a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and chips caused by builders, across whirlpool & spa baths, acrylic and roll-top & freestanding.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

How to look after the repair

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath

There’s nothing special to do after a repair. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and give it a rinse after each bath.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.

What we do, step by step

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Allow a morning or an afternoon. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know about parking or access

FAQs for Virginia Water

Is repairing better than replacing?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you’ll get one combined price.

Is a bath repair permanent?

Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders across Surrey.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Can tenants book a repair?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Repair or replace in Virginia Water?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. If the entire surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you. Prices start from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Virginia Water. What changes the price is:

  • The material
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

Getting a price from photos

Two or three clear photos are generally enough. It helps if you send:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Where you are, by postcode

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Landlord and trade work in Virginia Water

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Virginia Water use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

What a repair can’t fix

We would rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.
