Need bath repair in Walkerburn?

Your questions about bath repair in Walkerburn

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes. We take out the old repair and do it properly. Mention it when you send photos.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

What happens after I send photos?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Often, if there’s access underneath. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

About our bath repair in Walkerburn

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. Most baths can be used again the next day. Typical jobs include damage done while the bathroom was being fitted and a hole punched through by something heavy, in roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

How it works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Plan for a few hours. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

How to prepare

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Repair or replace in Walkerburn?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you. Prices start from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Walkerburn. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why book with us

  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

What your bath is made of matters

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

What we cannot put right

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, including:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we work on in Walkerburn

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel

What we are called out for in Walkerburn

Damage during fitting is very common. Tools, tiles and fittings get dropped into the bath, frequently before anyone notices. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.

Look out for these signs:

  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath

Before you book anyone

  • What protection goes down before work starts

Choosing a repair company

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:

  • The type of damage
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How much damage there is

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed quote

You can normally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • A picture taken from further back
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can price the job the same day in most cases.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
