Bath repair for Weaste homes

Bath repair in Weaste, done in place

Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, typically in a single visit. We regularly repair pressed steel enamel, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel, and common reasons people get in touch are scratches you can feel with a fingernail and chips on the rim or sides.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Weaste and across Greater Manchester.

Before and after: a damaged acrylic bath corner repaired in place

What a repair cannot fix

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we work on in Weaste

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Why repair rather than replace?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Our bath repair starts from £95. Compared with replacing, repairing normally costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Why Weaste customers choose us

  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

What affects the price in Weaste

Repairs from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How many areas need work
  • The material
  • The colour and finish to match

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Quotes from your pictures

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To make it quick:

  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

For a price in Weaste, the easiest route is pictures: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

How the visit works

We turn up when we said we would and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes two to three hours for most chips, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the next day.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Ensure the area is dry

Aftercare tips

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Take it off before we arrive.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Weaste questions

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is a bath repair permanent?

Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

How quickly can you book me in?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Will I be able to see the repair?

On a glossy bath, you will struggle to find it. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

How do I book?

Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

Can you quote from photos?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.
