Bath repair in Weavers Down without replacing anything
Whatever has happened to the bath, we aim for the same result: a repair that is smooth, sound and hard to spot. Proper preparation, careful filling and shaping, then colour and gloss matching so it’s level with the surrounding surface. We work on cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths, and people most often call us about holes from dropped items and a cracked acrylic bath.
We guarantee the work for a year. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Aftercare tips
It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:
- Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
- Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
- If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.
If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.
Different materials, different repairs
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.
The process
There is not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we will get on with it. Most visits take a few hours, tidy-up included.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
How to prepare
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
- Let us know if it has been repaired before

DIY repairs versus a professional job
For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.
FAQs for Weavers Down
Can pets and children be at home?
On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children.
How invisible is a bath repair?
On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.
What happens next?
You will get a fixed quote back, plus dates. There’s no obligation to book.
How long before I can use the bath?
Typically the following day. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.
Can you repair a failed DIY repair?
Regularly. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.
Can tenants book a repair?
We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just make sure the landlord agrees.
Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?
Normally. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.
Is the work guaranteed?
All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.
How we price bath repair
Repairs from £95. We price every job individually. The main factors are:
- The size and number of damaged areas
- How easy the damage is to reach
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- The material and finish
We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Weavers Down. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Send photos for a quote
Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:
- Natural light rather than flash
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- The material, if you know it
If you are in Weavers Down and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.
When a repair isn’t the answer
Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:
- A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
- Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
- Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.
Surfaces we repair
- Roll-top & freestanding
