Bath repair in Whitfield

How we handle bath repair in Whitfield

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. We’re often asked to fix an old repair that has yellowed or come loose and a cracked acrylic bath, across roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

FAQs for Whitfield

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes, very frequently. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Do the materials smell?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working, which fades afterwards.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Most of the time. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so access behind the panel is important.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Usually, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

What we can’t put right

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding

How the visit works

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, and get on with the job, which typically takes a morning or an afternoon. If anything looks different from your photos, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Keeping it looking good

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent

There is nothing special to do after a repair. Skip bleach and gritty creams and give it a rinse after each bath.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water cannot get in. Remove it before the repair.

10 questions to ask before booking

Why repair rather than replace?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it takes one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why book with us

  • No need to remove anything
  • Normally one visit, start to finish
  • One price list for the whole UK
  • Colour mixed on the day to match

Read our prices page or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

For landlords and businesses

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.
