What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The material and finish
  • How many areas need work

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Quotes from your pictures

You can usually get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

When we’d advise against a repair

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel

Your questions about bath repair in Wye Valley

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Regularly. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

When can I have a bath again?

Usually the next day. We confirm the time before we leave.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

Will I be able to see the repair?

We aim for a repair you cannot easily find. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

When to call us in Wye Valley

A cracked acrylic bath normally wasn’t supported properly. Legs that aren’t adjusted, a missing cradle or a soft floor let the base flex until the acrylic gives way.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • A chipped rim or side
  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • Impact holes in acrylic

What to look for in a quote

  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • What prep work is covered
  • What protection goes down before work starts

10 questions to ask before booking

Work for landlords and builders

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Monmouthshire and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

How the visit works

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. It generally takes two to three hours for most chips, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Looking after it afterwards

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust sets in.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water can’t get in. Take it off before we arrive.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
