How we handle bath resealing in Acton Trussell

A good reseal is all about preparation: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Then the fresh sealant goes on, as one neat, continuous bead. We are frequently asked to fix leaks at the edges and an untidy old seal, on kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and shower trays & enclosures.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will sort it.

Acton Trussell questions

What happens next?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote with dates.

How much does bath resealing cost in Acton Trussell?

We give a fixed quote based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your ST17 postcode.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you will get one combined price.

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire bath or shower and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. If pictures do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Do you come to Acton Trussell?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Acton Trussell. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Damp is the cause. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

What we do, step by step

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to a couple of hours.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

How to get a price

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Aftercare tips

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Keep the joints dry

Run the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

When a repair is not the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Do you need bath resealing in Acton Trussell?

No sealant lasts for ever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould feeds on, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.

Common reasons people in Acton Trussell contact us include:

  • An untidy old seal
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Sealant that is split or lifting
  • Missing sealant behind the taps

Our hiring checklist

What affects the price in Acton Trussell

We charge the same across the UK, including Acton Trussell. What changes the price is:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • What the surface is made of
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Getting a price from pictures

You can usually get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The material, if you know it
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Upload a picture of the damage and one of the whole item, with your ST17 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.
