Bath resealing in Ashridge, done in place

A reseal is a small job that makes a big difference. Clean, white joints make a bathroom look cared for, and they protect the walls and floor. We work on kitchen worktops & sinks, baths and shower trays & enclosures, and common reasons people contact us are silicone coming away from the tiles and water getting behind the bath or tray.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once we have gone.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Signs you need bath resealing in Ashridge

A bathroom without good ventilation is hard on sealant: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould grows faster.

Most people get in touch when they notice something like this:

  • Sealant that’s split or lifting
  • An untidy old seal
  • Black spots in the silicone
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant

Our hiring checklist

Prices and what affects them

We give every job a fixed price from pictures. These are the things that affect it:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The material
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How much damage there is

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

How to get a fixed price

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
  • The material, if you know it
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Most clients in Ashridge get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Ashridge questions

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

What happens after I send photos?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

Which areas do you work in?

Everywhere in the UK, Ashridge included. There’s no extra charge for travel.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Is resealing worth it?

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. A repair normally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

Why us?

  • No extra charge for your area
  • One visit for most repairs
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • No need to remove anything

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

What we do, step by step

Arrival times are agreed in advance. On site, it takes a couple of hours for most jobs. We leave the room clean and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Let us know about parking or access

Aftercare tips

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Air the room after use

Good ventilation is the best protection, and wipe the joints after use so mould struggles to take hold.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Repairs by material

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.
