Bath resealing for Cam homes

How we handle bath resealing in Cam

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Failed sealant lets water get where it shouldn’t, and a new seal stops it. We’re frequently asked to fix black spots in the silicone and a messy previous reseal, across kitchen worktops & sinks, shower trays & enclosures and wet rooms.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

When we’d advise against a repair

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Hidden water damage
  • A flexing bath

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we work on in Cam

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths

Repairs by material

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Do you need bath resealing in Cam?

Even good sealant eventually discolours particularly in a well-used bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all take their toll.

The things customers typically mention when they call are:

  • An untidy old seal
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray

Questions to ask before booking

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • What protection goes down before work starts

Choosing a repair company

What happens on the day

We work cleanly and quietly. Protection goes down first, then the work takes around two hours. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Landlord and trade work in Cam

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

For anyone letting property in or around Cam, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we’ll price them together.

Aftercare tips

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally about a day.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you’ll get one combined price.

When can you do it?
