Bath resealing in Chickerell

Signs you need bath resealing in Chickerell

Sealant does not last forever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould feeds on, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

Clients usually contact us about:

  • Gaps in the seal
  • Leaks at the edges
  • An untidy old seal
  • Stained silicone

About our bath resealing in Chickerell

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Failed sealant lets water get where it shouldn’t, and a new seal stops it. Whether it’s silicone smeared on tiles and mould you can’t clean out, we can help.

Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Your questions about bath resealing in Chickerell

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote.

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Is the work guaranteed?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

What information do you need?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the whole bath or shower and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.

Do you cover Chickerell?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Chickerell and the rest of Dorset. Send pictures and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and we’ll quote them together.

Honest limits

Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms

What bath resealing costs

You won’t pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • How many areas need work
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material and finish

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Getting a price from pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Any details about the material
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Details of any past repairs

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

What happens on the day

Visits start with a quick look at the job together. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. Allow a couple of hours, and we will keep you posted as we go.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, taps included.

Before we arrive

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Advice

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, typically around 24 hours.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

Why it’s worth resealing in Chickerell

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal can let water reach the walls and floor, and that damage costs much more to fix. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.
