Bath resealing near Church End

Bath resealing in Church End, done in place

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and a new seal stops it. We work on baths, basins & vanity units and shower trays & enclosures, and the jobs we see most are leaks at the edges and gaps by the taps.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Church End questions

What happens if you find more damage?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

How long does resealing take?

Around two hours for a bath, then it needs to cure.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

How long before I can shower?

Normally about a day later. We’ll tell you the exact time.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

What areas do you cover?

All of Central Bedfordshire, and the rest of the UK. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Prices and what affects them

You won’t pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • The material
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Doing more than one item at once

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send photos for a quote

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • One picture of the entire bath or shower

Most customers in Church End get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

What happens on the day

We agree an arrival time beforehand. Once we are there, the work takes around two hours for most jobs. We leave the room clean.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

How to prepare

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Ensure the area is dry

Ask for a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Advice

How to care for the repair

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Wipe the joints dry after use

Good ventilation is the best protection, and dry the joints after bathing.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

DIY kit or professional repair?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Is resealing worth it?

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s a quick job that protects your walls and floors. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You will see the full price before you book.

When we would advise against a repair

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.
