How we handle bath resealing in Claverhouse

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and resealing puts a stop to that. Whether it’s leaks at the edges and old sealant that looks dirty, we can usually put it right.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Do you need bath resealing in Claverhouse?

Sealant does not last forever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould loves, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.

The things clients typically mention when they call are:

  • Stained silicone
  • Unsealed corners
  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Gaps in the seal

Questions to ask before you book

  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • How long it needs to cure
  • Whether the price covers travel

Choosing a repair company

What bath resealing costs

Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • The material and finish
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Send pictures for a quote

Before you send photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The material, if you know it
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower, include your postcode and send them over. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.

The process

Your technician turns up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a couple of hours, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Open a window if you can

Get a quote

Upload a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your DD3 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

When we would advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Hidden water damage
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Claverhouse: your questions answered

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

Something is moving. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted.

How long does resealing take?

A bath or shower typically takes a couple of hours. It then needs time to cure.

Is there a call-out fee?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Mould needs moisture. Run the fan, dry the joints and the new seal stays cleaner for longer.

Do you cover the entire of Dundee?

We cover the entire UK, including Claverhouse and the rest of Dundee. Just include your postcode and we’ll confirm dates.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Why it’s worth resealing in Claverhouse

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why book with us

  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Air the room after use
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Keep bottles off the joints

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.

Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly; it shows moisture is getting in. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Different materials, different repairs

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.
