Bath resealing for Clayhanger homes

Bath resealing at your home in Clayhanger

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed using mould-resistant silicone. Most jobs take a couple of hours, then it needs to cure. We regularly repair kitchen worktops & sinks, shower trays & enclosures and wet rooms, and the jobs we see most are silicone coming away from the tiles and discoloured, yellow sealant.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Different materials, different repairs

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

When we would advise against a repair

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

FAQs for Clayhanger

Do you cover the whole of Somerset?

Everywhere in the UK, Clayhanger included. There is no extra charge for travel.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders across Somerset.

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

Is there a call-out fee?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Damp is the cause. Run the fan, dry the joints and the new seal stays cleaner for longer.

How long does resealing take?

Most reseals take about two hours. It then needs time to cure.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

What affects the price in Clayhanger

Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. The main factors are:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How easy the damage is to reach

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Getting a price from pictures

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The material, if you know it
  • Natural light rather than flash

Upload a picture of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, and tell us you’re in Clayhanger, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Use the extractor fan

Use the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Black mould in sealant is not just unsightly. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Can I fix it myself?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

Work for landlords and builders

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

What we do, step by step

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job usually takes about two hours for a bath. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.
