Bath resealing at your home in Cole Hill

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed using mould-resistant silicone. A typical reseal takes a couple of hours, plus curing time. Common call-outs are for silicone smeared on tiles and leaks at the edges, in basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & sinks and shower trays & enclosures.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Looking after it afterwards

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Open a window after bathing
  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Keep the joints dry

Good ventilation is the best protection, and wipe the joints after use to keep mould away.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

Cole Hill questions

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

What do you need from me?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787.

What happens next?

You’ll get a fixed quote back. You’re under no obligation.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

No, we never seal over old silicone. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.

How long does silicone take to cure?

You will get the curing time from us, usually around a day.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Damp is the cause. Run the fan, dry the joints and the new seal stays cleaner for longer.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

Why it’s worth resealing in Cole Hill

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Cole Hill. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why us?

What bath resealing costs

We don’t charge extra for travel to Cole Hill. The price comes down to:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Getting a price from photos

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

How the visit works

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It normally takes a couple of hours, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Clear the area around the damage

Advice

Can I fix it myself?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.
