What a repair cannot fix

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we repair

Bath resealing at your home in Cove

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. New silicone won’t bond to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. Whether it’s a messy previous reseal and leaks at the edges, we can help, whatever the material.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Aftercare tips

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Air the room after use
  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and do not stand bottles on the seal.

Black mould in sealant is not just unsightly; it shows moisture is getting in. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

How it works

We begin by going over the job with you. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. Allow about two hours for a bath, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

How to prepare

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

What bath resealing costs

There is no area surcharge for Cove. The price reflects:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • What the surface is made of
  • How many areas need work
  • How hard the colour is to match

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking.

Quotes from your photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Any details about the material
  • A picture taken from further back
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Why it’s worth resealing in Cove

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is and protects the walls and floor. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.
