Bath resealing for Crunwere homes

Bath resealing in Crunwere without replacing anything

Resealing is quick, but it transforms the look. Fresh joints make the whole room look cleaner, and they keep water out. We are frequently asked to fix a messy previous reseal and silicone coming away from the tiles, in basins & vanity units, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll come back.

What happens on the day

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll get on with it. Most visits take a couple of hours, tidy-up included.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Getting ready for the visit

Advice

How to care for the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Let steam out after showers
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers

Run the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

What we’re called out for in Crunwere

In time, even good sealant discolours particularly in a well-used bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all wear it down.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Unsealed corners
  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Gaps in the seal
  • Leaks at the edges

How to compare quotes

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

Resealing in Crunwere: why it matters

Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Crunwere. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

What you get with us

  • A fixed quote before booking
  • No need to remove anything
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

What affects the price in Crunwere

Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • The material and finish
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What kind of damage it is
  • How easy the damage is to reach

Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Getting a price from photos

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • The material, if you know it

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

When we would advise against a repair

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
