Trusted bath resealing in Dale End

How we handle bath resealing in Dale End

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and resealing puts a stop to that. If you’re dealing with old sealant that looks dirty and damp near the bath, we can help, whatever the material.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly

Run the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.

For landlords and businesses

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Derbyshire and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

How we price bath resealing

We do not charge extra for travel to Dale End. The price depends on:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • What the surface is made of
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Doing more than one item at once

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Send photos for a quote

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A picture taken from further back

Send us pictures of the damage and one of the entire item, with your DE45 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

When we would advise against a repair

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.

Resealing in Dale End: why it matters

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • No need to remove anything
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • A fixed quote before you book

Questions from Dale End

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

What happens next?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Do you cover the whole of Derbyshire?

Across the UK. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, frequently. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

How long does resealing take?

Normally a couple of hours, plus curing time.

What happens on the day

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Allow around two hours from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Before we arrive

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
