Bath resealing in Dalmally

How to care for the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Keep bottles off the joints

Use the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

About our bath resealing in Dalmally

A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. Fresh sealant does not stick to old, which is why many DIY jobs peel. Common call-outs are for sealant that’s split or lifting and leaks at the edges, on basins & vanity units, baths and shower trays & enclosures.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take around two hours, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Our hiring checklist

Work for landlords and builders

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Why reseal now?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Hidden water damage
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • A flexing bath
