Bath resealing for Dovecote homes

Bath resealing in Dovecote without replacing anything

Preparation is everything in a reseal: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Only then does the new sealant go on, in a neat, continuous bead. We work on baths, wet rooms and kitchen worktops & sinks, and common reasons people contact us are old sealant that looks dirty and sealant that’s split or lifting.

You are covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before booking.

Aftercare tips

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, usually around 24 hours.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Repairs by material

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Dovecote: your questions answered

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Mould needs moisture. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

How much does bath resealing cost in Dovecote?

Every job gets a fixed quote based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the whole item with your EH41 postcode.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

How quickly can you book me in?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

Can you quote from photos?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Do you cover Dovecote?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Dovecote and the rest of East Lothian. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How we price bath resealing

Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • The type of damage
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Quotes from your photos

Two or three clear pictures are generally enough. Try to include:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • One picture of the entire bath or shower
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Landlord and trade work in Dovecote

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Dovecote as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Honest limits

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, including:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on

  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

What we do, step by step

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we are doing. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and the work begins. It normally takes about two hours for a bath, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, including around the taps.

How to prepare

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
