Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before and we’ll plan for it.

Do you come to Eastwick?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Eastwick. Send pictures and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Which areas do you work in?

All of Essex, and the rest of the UK. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders in Eastwick.

Can new silicone go over old?

Never over old. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.

Bath resealing in Eastwick without replacing anything

We reseal baths with them filled with water, so the joint is at its widest, so the seal does not tear when the bath is first used. If you are dealing with mould you can’t clean out and damp near the bath, we can help, on baths, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures alike.

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee.

When to call us in Eastwick

A bathroom without good ventilation is hard on sealant: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould takes hold.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Damp near the bath

Resealing in Eastwick: why it matters

Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Eastwick

  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • No need to remove anything
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Fixed prices from your photos

How to care for the repair

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Open a window after bathing
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

What affects the price in Eastwick

There is no charge for travel to Eastwick. The price depends on:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The type of damage
  • The size and number of damaged areas

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You will see the full price before you book.

How to get a fixed quote

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.

When we would advise against a repair

We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

Repairs by material

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

What happens on the day

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will take it from there. The job generally runs to a couple of hours, including clearing up.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Open a window if you can
