How we handle bath resealing in Egloshayle

We reseal baths with them filled with water, so the joint opens fully, which stops the new seal tearing the first time the bath is used. Whether it’s mould you can’t clean out and old sealant that looks dirty, we can help, whatever the material.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once we have gone.

Choosing a repair company

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take about two hours for a bath, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, taps included.

How to prepare

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Egloshayle questions

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

When can I use the bath after resealing?

You will get the curing time from us.

Do you cover Egloshayle?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Egloshayle. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Usually, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

We always remove the old sealant completely. Fresh silicone does not stick to old.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

Landlord and trade work in Egloshayle

Different materials, different repairs

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

Is resealing worth it?

Compared with repairing water damage, resealing is cheap. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Why us?

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Dry the seal after bathing

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally around 24 hours.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.
